Posts, Tweets, Boards and Periscopes are all the talk around the social media world these days. If you are wondering what in the world that means, just hang in there with me. First of all, Periscope is an App that you can download on your phone to take videos. Some churches use this to broadcast live events and posting video on their Facebook and twitter accounts. It brings the action “in real time” at an affordable price (free) and lets the viewer keep up with what is going on, just like the other social media resources, but LIVE and IN PERSON. Pretty cool, huh? It is a free download, but make sure you have plenty of storage space on your phone or you will be out of luck. Ask me how I know.
Pinterest consists of “Boards” and you just “pin” your favorites, sort of like using a bulletin board and post-it notes. I’m sure you know about those. 🙂 I have a board for Ministry Assistants that you can see on this blog. Check it out, HERE. You can name boards and have as many as you want. It’s a great tool for decorations, games for staff meeting or to pitch to the children’s ministry leaders, quotes for newsletters, Bible verses, ideas for all sorts of stuff. It is also FREE to join!
Facebook and Twitter are the most popular. Posts (Facebook) and tweets (Twitter) can help you get the word out there about events going on in the church, and share newsletter links. Pictures are great to use as this adds an additional visual effect which brings attention to your post. Be sure to ask your readers to “Like”, “Share” and “Retweet” to help get the word out too!
If you need help setting these up, figuring out how to navigate, or just have a question, just give me a call. #gladtohelp
