Ever had one of THOSE days? It promised to be a quiet day with the boss working off site, so I was prepared to get MORE work done and be MORE productive. Well…my computer had other plans.
I turn on my laptop, which I love for flexibility, put in my password and, and…nothing. Try again. Same scenario. I notice the battery light is on, and I knew it didn’t have much “juice”, so I decided to plug in and let it sit while I got caught up on some dreaded filing. That should do the trick, right? Not a chance. I lost count of how many times I turned it off and back on, got to the password screen and just went around and around in circles doing the same dance, which is not a pretty one.
I decided to start with a call to my husband, my occasional IT Geek, to see if he had any suggestions. He doesn’t answer. Now what? After a few more rounds of off and on, I called my boss and he said go ahead and call in the professionals. THE GEEK SQUAD! The real deal! Not THE BIG BANG THEORY (I LOVE that show 🙂 ) but the guys at Best Buy, so off I go.
After explaining the issue, the “Geek” pressed a button or two, took out the battery, pressed another button or two, then put the battery back in. “Okay, let’s see if that works,” he says. After spinning for what seemed like an eternity, it started coming back to life. AWESOME! “It just needed an electric restart to clear out”… all the whatever’s or something and I was back in business!
If you ever have computer issues and your resident “Geek” can’t help, I can wholeheartedly recommend the GEEK SQUAD. They even help remotely which they have done for my boss (many times…shhh). You will need a subscription, but it has been totally worth it for our situation. Not too costly and definitely cheaper than when hiring out was the only solution we knew of. Add this resource to your list to help when your computer, which is lifeblood for the office, goes haywire, because sometimes it doesn’t take a village, just a geek.
